The 1400’s receiver was lightweight aluminum. Thanks to modern (at the time) manufacturing and machining techniques, Winchester shaved half a pound of its receivers versus other comparable ones.
Winchester had its very fast, very smooth, very easy and very secure Armor-Lock four-lug rotary-bolt lockup. Winchester also had an Internal Recoil Reduction System that did an excellent job of recoil mitigation.
The Winchester 1400 production ran until the mid-1990s. All were Made in USA.
